Fishing in Cabo is easy. There are plenty of sportfishing boats, but if there is a big tournament in town, you should reserve your boat well in advance. Most people fishing for Blue Marlin or Black Marlin prefer catch and release, and because of this, your odds of catching a big one are about one in three. But if you do catch a monster fish, you can keep it. There is also great fishing for other species like dorado, yellowtail, roosterfish and wahoo.
There are two main types of boats available for Cabo fishing. Cruisers are the larger boats, and usually offer a pretty decent size deck area and seating. Pangas are usually much smaller than cruisers, are generally open to the sun.
Depending on your catch, most boats head back to the marina in the early afternoon. However, if you want to spend more time out at sea, most captains will try to accommodate you.
When you get back to the marina, tipping is always appreciated by the captain and crew; a gratuity of 10% of the boat cost is a decent guideline.
