Fleet Week in New York City
At the end of May, about 10,000 Navy and Coast Guard personnel are "at liberty" in New York for the annual Fleet Week. From 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm each day, you can watch the ships and aircraft carriers as they dock at the piers on the west side of Manhattan. You can even tour the ships with on-duty personnel and watch exhibitions by the U.S. Marines.
In addition to public tours of the ships, there are parades, aircraft flyovers, and much more!
