A PARADISE for Nature, Outdoor and Water Enthusiasts, right on Unspoiled Troncones Beach with a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean |
Casas Gregorio is a nature and water-sports paradise. Our resort is located right on the beach with a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. This unspoiled natural haven offers even the most discriminating traveler an unparalleled combination of vacation activities.
It’s conceivable that you could get tired of the peaceful tranquility of morning beachcomber walks, floating around in the pool with a margarita, lazy afternoons reading in a seaside hammock and romantic sunsets on beautiful Troncones Beach. You may never want to leave Casas Gregorio, but if you decide to venture out into the water, there’s plenty to do: sailing, deep sea fishing, kayaking, surfing, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, boogie boarding and wind surfing. Inland adventurers can choose from golf, tennis, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, caving, mountain biking, bird watching and of course, shopping. The local cuisine is known throughout Mexico for it’s wonderful regional flavors and incredibly fresh seafood dishes.
Casas Gregorio consists of two private casas and two private bungalows on the beach, just 30 minutes north of Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo, Mexico. Each casa is 1,250 square feet and they each have 2 bedrooms with king size beds and 2 baths in a double-master configuration. Each Bungalow is about 600 square feet. The bungalows have king size bunk beds with an attached bath. Each casa and each bungalow sleep 4 people.
Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo has an international airport supported by several U.S. Airlines including Alaska, American, America West, Continental and Pioneer. At the airport you can rent a car, though book your reservations on-line before you arrive to secure the best rates. Casas Gregorio is about 35 minutes by car from the airport.
To be sure, this is not your typical big-name corporate resort. It’s much better than that. Our resort offers you access to and proximity to the amenities that you want with the intimacy and service so hard to find elsewhere.
Casas: Each casa has a fully-equipped kitchen and the living area opens up to a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. The windows are screened and the bedrooms, kitchens and living rooms have overhead fans. The front patios have lawn chairs and hammocks for your comfort. Bottled water, bedding/linens and daily maid service are all provided.
Bungalows: Each bungalow has a refrigerator and the two bungalows share a common kitchen. The windows are screened and each bungalow has an overhead fan. The front of each bungalow has a porch with a hammock and a view of the swimming pool and Pacific Ocean. Bottled water, bedding/linens & daily maid service are all provided!
If you would like some or all of your meals prepared during your visit, just let us know and we will make the arrangements for you. If you need groceries or supplies in your casa or bungalow upon your arrival you can provide us with a list and we will shop and stock your bar and kitchen for you. The cost is actual cost of the supplies plus a small additional fee.
Ernesto is our onsite general manager. He speaks both Spanish and English fluently and works hard to ensure that our guests’ visits are comfortable, secure and memorable. Don’t hesitate to ask him for anything that you may require. He is a long time resident of the area and will be happy to assist you with arranging for a local cook to prepare your meals during your stay, scuba lessons, golf tee times or most anything you can think of. Ernesto is a local bluegrass musician. Ask him about his band when you visit and where they’re scheduled to play next.
Rene` handles all of the maintenance issues and keeps the pool spotless. Rene's wife Santa is our housekeeper. She keeps the casas and bungalows clean and tidy. Rene and Santa are on-site six days a week. Ernesto is available 7/24/365!
Ernesto, Rene and Santa are all very friendly and professional. They are here to make your stay very special and take pride in making Casas Gregorio the vacation destination that you’ll refer your friends and relatives to. Our goal is to exceed your expectations so that when you are reluctantly preparing to leave us, you’ll make a point of checking the schedule to book your reservation for next year. But don't just take our word for it, read some of the testimonials below to get a sense of what you'll be able to expect.
Many of our guests rent the entire resort each year for corporate retreats or so that they can create wonderful vacation memories with their whole family. Inquire about special discounts that may apply.

| | My husband and I stayed in one of the two casas at Casa Gregorio for 10 days in early February 2011. The other casa was usually rented on weekends, but mid week we usually had the place to ourselves. We had originally booked a bungalow but were glad we had upgraded to the casa, as those are just a lot nicer facility, with a beachfront patio and the ocean breeze always blowing thru it. Rene and Santos do a great job of keeping the houses and grounds really clean, and were always smiling and pleasant to be around. Ernesto and his wife and kids also stopped by regularly.
Turtle nesting/hatching season was going full force. We usually saw turtle tracks on early morning beach walks, and Roberto (he runs a local turtle rescue program) did several early morning releases right in front of the house. From the patio, we also saw iguanas, whales, lots of pelicans and shore birds, and what were probably sailfish that were leaping completely out of the water (take binoculars!) And I had only seen storks maybe a few times before; there was a large flock of them that hung out in the creek by the bridge. That spot seemed to have more interesting birds and wildlife than some of the areas near Ixtapa that the buses full of tourists pay to go to.
We spent 4 nights in Zihau, then picked up a rental car at the airport for the Troncones portion of our trip. We liked having the car as opposed to using taxis, as it gave us a lot more freedom for day trips, grocery shopping, and getting back and forth from restaurants at night. There is currently a lot of concern about safety for travelers in Mexico, and we have had a lot of people ask us about that. However, we felt quite safe walking around both daytime and at night in the downtown/tourist areas of Zihua and anywhere in Troncones, and also in driving between the two towns during the day. We just took the usual precautions of being aware of our surroundings and not wearing flashy items. I would not, however, advise night driving anywhere except along the dirt beach road in Troncones. The main roads have numerous large potholes as well as steep topes in the small towns, and these would be too hard to see after dark. I would not want to break an axle and be broken down along the road!
We bought groceries a couple of times at the Comercial Mexicana in Zuhua, and usually fixed breakfast and lunch (with lots of fresh local fruit and vegies) in the casa, then went out to dinner at one of the Troncones restaurants. Our favorites were Burro Borracho and La Costa Brava. We also walked up to Cafe del Sol every morning for espressos, as they have the only commercial espresso machine in town. They also have good breakfasts and fresh baked goods (including wood fired pizzas) that we got to watch them make every morning.
The locals in Troncones were all really friendly to us, and seemed to appreciate our feeble attempts at speaking Spanish. A smile and a “buenos dias” go a long ways towards making friends. We also did some driving to other small beach towns in the area, and Troncones had by far the cleanest beach (probably since it has no large rivers coming into it). And if we could see 6 people on it at one time we made jokes about it being crowded.

| | Our family spent Christmas at Casa Gregorio. 6 late teens and 5 adults. It was a great place for us. The adults had the beautiful front house and the kids had the bungalows. We relaxed, walked, surfed and swam. There were enough restaurants/shops in Troncones to entertain us and the bus to Zihau is simple to catch. The sea is exciting. Ernesto looked after us very well and Greg was a great host when he arrived for the last week.
Thanks for a "once in a lifetime" family holiday! |

| | Casas Gregorio Revisited
After too many years of living through harsh New England winters, we are always looking for ways to escape the ice and snow for a few weeks. For the last couple of years, old friends from Missoula, Montana have been telling us about their winter getaway south of the border and the unspoiled beauty of the Pacific Ocean at Troncones Beach, in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. Finally, last February we had a chance to join them and spend a week at Casas Gregorio -- right on the beach with a breathtaking view of the Mexican coastline and the pounding surf of the Pacific at your doorstep. As opposed to many spots along the west coast of Mexico, Trancones still offers an unspoiled natural haven of tranquility and undiscovered nature that used to be associated with Mexico’s Pacific coastline.
What’s nice about Troncones is not what’s there but what’s not there -- there isn’t anything there! A few decades ago, Troncones was nothing but a ranch town with a long deserted beach and a few casitas dotting the road. It has changed a lot since then, but even now the development is still low key with a dirt road running parallel to the beach and quiet places to stay intermixed with exclusive gringo estates hidden away behind discrete stonewalls, massive, rough-cut wooden doors and gates and pervasive tropical greenery. Troncones does not have bragging rights to undisturbed rainforest, colonial charm or pre-Columbian ruins, but it does have one outstanding characteristic that attracts travelers -- the beach. The two or three mile sandy beach is a gem and the part right in front of Casas Gregorio may be the nicest section along the whole stretch because it far enough from town -- if that is what you want to call the crossroads and collection of bodegas, pensions, hotels and restaurants a mile south -- and more importantly, there is little or no volcanic rock that juts out of the water and makes the surf dangerous as in other parts of the beach.
Read the promo on the website; all the hype is true -- it will take more than a few days to get tired of just hanging out -- the location of Casas Gregorio is conducive to moving slow: morning beachcombing, afternoon swimming in the surf or floating around in the pool with endless Coronas or margaritas, lazy siestas reading in a seaside hammock and soaking in the blazing sunsets on beautiful Troncones Beach. For the first couple of days you may not want to leave the compound, but if you decide to venture out, there’s plenty to do – it’s just a question of getting out of your hammock. For us, one the draws of the location is a world-class yoga retreat a few hundred yards down the beach where you can drop in for outdoor yoga sessions.
Casas Gregorio consists of two parallel casitas and two private bungalows on the beach. The rooms are nicely appointed and have king-sized beds with an attached bath. Each casa and each bungalow sleep 4 people – so if you have friends that are another couple, it’s a perfect way to spend a week together. The owners’ brother, Ernesto is the resident gringo and onsite general manager. He will invariably drop in after you are settled in to answer questions and ensure that the guests’ needs are met. The rest of the staff, consisting of a local couple -- Rene and Santa --- is friendly and helpful.
Casas Gregorio is not the fanciest place on the beach, but it is comfortable and secure and has everything you need for a relaxing and memorable getaway. The fully equipped kitchen is ready for cocktails and cooking seafood and fruits and vegetables that vendors bring right to your door. Santa is also available to cook if that is you want. This is only the second year we are coming back, but if we are like other folks that have been to Troncones, it may be the start of a long tradition.

| | We spent Thanksgiving 2006 at Casa Gregorio. Everything was fantastic. The view from the living area and the patio is unbelievable. Ernesto is always available and helpful. He is a great local source for Troncones information, etc. Santa and Rene are also very helpful and ALWAYS working! The local fisherman delivered fresh fish to the house just about every day! Our meals were spent on the patio watching the unrivalled sunset! We will definitely return to spend another restful, fun-filled vacation! |

| | As with all the other testimonials, we can''t say enough about how wonderful our stay was at Casas Gregorio. Troncones beach is a wonderful jewel along the Pacific coast of Mexico and Casas Gregorio shines there. Ernesto was a wonderful host, arranging for us excellent meals prepared by Angelica...fresh shrimp prepared every way possible. The house and grounds are extremely well taken care of. The view from the front porch, as you lounge in a hammock, is wonderful, and there is nothing better than sleeping to the sound of the pounding surf just yards away. Rene and Santa keep the place spotless and are always willing to go the extra step. There is no doubt in our minds that we will be back and plan on staying for a much longer time! BTW, for those boogie boarders out there, the beach right in front has a bit of rocky reef (but great waves, the beach itself is very sandy and clean), however, just a short walk down the beach toward town you can find some good sandy spots in the water with nice breaks as well. Another hint...find out where Ernesto might be playing music...even if in Zihuat, it is well worth the trip to hear him and his band. |

| | In over 25 years of travelling to Mexico, I have never been as contented and cared for as I was during the three weeks spent at Casas Gregorio during the 2005/2006 holidays. Greg and Ernesto have done an incredible job to create a feeling of family on their compound, the staff was efficient and friendly, the ocean was outrageously warm and welcoming -- even the moon and stars played a role. Thanks to you both, it was the BEST! Roberta |

| | My sister and I (with four of our daughters and one granddaughter) rented the two bungalows for 18 nights, June and July 2005. The bungalows were very, very nice--clean, comfortable, quiet. Being from the north, we are unaccustomed to bugs and skittering critters, but we soon got used to co-habitating with a few bugs, flying insects, bright green iguanas and skittering geckos. We loved the crabs that got into the little kitchen overnight. I know our girls took lots of footage of the "crabwalk."
We appreciated Rene and Santa. They were so pleasant and so patient with us as we tried to converse in Spanish. Santa''s talent of arranging the blankets in a different pattern on the beds every morning had the girls just waiting to see what she would do next. I believe they also took pictures of several of her designs. Ernie visited us nearly every day and was always friendly and helpful. He even lent us his road atlas so we could make some road trips in the area. As I sit through dark winter mornings looking at the ice and snow out my office window, my mind''s eye will be seeing the beautiful beach and the crashing ocean waves of Troncones. We hope to go back to that area some day; in the meantime, we are recommending Casas Gregorio to many of our friends here in Alaska.

| | My husband, 2 girls (ages 10 & 7)found paradise in Troncones! Casa Gregorio was wonderful, as we were there 12 days in March. The beach was great for morning walks, tide pools, shell collecting. It was fun to be in the water where you aren''t freezing! Boogie boarding was a blast! The local people were very friendly & food was fabulous. Ernesto was very helpful w/info & he & my husband talked for hours. We even looked into buying property. You couldn''t find a better place to stay as the accomodations were nice & if you needed anything, Ernesto would get for you. He plays a mean guitar too! We have recommended it to everyone we know & will definitely be back. We even got used to the lizards crawling about, nothing we ever see in AK!! I would suggest railings for the top bunk in the bungalows as was little steep for my girls to sleep up there without them. Otherwise, no improvements needed. If you are looking for a friendly, beautiful, relaxing piece of heaven to get away from the rat race, we all strongly recommend Casa Gregorios & Troncones. |

| | We just returned from eleven days at Casa Gregorio, and we had a BALL. We have two little boys--aged 6 and 5 and we stayed in one of the bungalows . . . it was the perfect amount of space for our little family. The beds are very comfy and clean--the top bunk was a little too tall and scary for our boys, but they happily adopted the lower bunk as their own. We spent a lot of time in the patio area, swinging in the hammock and hanging out at the table--it''s a great spot to escape the hot afternoon sun. The big pool and kiddie pool are wonderful and clean. The beach right outside is awesome--usually totally empty (of humans--we saw lots of donkeys, horses and nice dogs) and the waves are great for boogie boarding. Up the beach a little ways you can find some good tide pools, tons of hermit crabs and some pretty decent shell collecting. We didn''t rent a car, but found that the walk to town was very do-able. It''s faster to go on the road, but a lot more fun to wander down the beach. Ernesto was a super host--all in all, a great vacation. We hope to be back next year! |

| | Casas Gregorio is everything the owner says and more. We just returned from spending a most pleasurable week. And, we are making plans to return next year. Angelica prepared and served chicken enchiladas on our patio that were to die for! $35 for five of us (we invited Ernesto to join us). The cave tour is spectacular. The village restaurants are terrific. And, nothing beats the view! No beach peddlers. Cute donkeys. 85 - 87 and sunny every day. Ernie was always available with helpful information about the area. We are ready to go back. |

| | When we arrived at Casa Gregorio we were greeted by Ernesto. Ernesto showed us around the property. Ernesto is one of the nicest people I think we have ever met. The property is everything that the pictures show and more. It is so beautiful there. We stayed in one of the bungalows. The bungalows are awesome. There is a queen size bunk bed fit for a king. The matresses are very comfortable. Rene and Santa who take care of the landscape and clean the rooms are very very nice. Ernesto arranged a fishing trip for us through a local fisherman named Samba (AKA) Oso. The trip was lots of fun and we caught lots of fish & sharks. Oso knows the area very well. We even went out a second time before we left. We also had Angelica cook for us. WOW, the best Chili Rellenos in the entire world. She cooked for us at least 4 times and very affordable. Ernesto, Max & Memo play guitar, keyboard & sing at Burro Boracho, they are very good. There is a nice sandy beach right in front of the casas. The surf was lots of fun. Both me and my surf partner spent lots of time surfing right out in front to the left. Lot's of surf in the area. Casas Gregorio con Ernesto is very relaxing. We are going back in 05 as well. Thank you Ernesto for all your help. Your friends Cameron & Tamara |

Everything about our experience was wonderful...the weather, of course, but also the friendliness of the locals, the variety of restaurants, the swimming, the beauty of the area, and last, but certainly not least, the great accommodations at Casa Gregorio. Our entire family rented the two casas and one of the bungalows and it was like our own little private beach club. The grounds are really beautiful and so well maintained. And...questions????....just ask Ernesto! He can help with just about anything. We are already looking forward to our return! |

| | Just a few words to tell everyone what a great experience we had at Casas Gregorio (CG) on our family vacation in June 2004.
Without a doubt, this was the best vacation we have ever taken. We Spent 12 days Relaxing, surfing, exploring and just taking in the beauty of CG and Troncones. From booking with Gregorio to meeting Ernesto and the staff of CG. The whole experience was perfect. Angelica the cook did herself proud by preparing us the best meals around. Santa kept the Casa spotless and the rest of the groundkeepers kept the pool and grounds immaculate.
I still find myself daydreaming about our adventure last June and I can''t wait till we return someday. Thank you all again for a most pleasant experience!

| | We loved the casa and the area!! Your pictures on the web-site don't do justice to the grounds, casas or the view of the ocean. It looks better in real life....it's usually the other way around!! The grounds were immaculate! The whole place was a magnificent garden full of color! There was a big pool for the 8yr old and a baby pool for the little one. The girls were very interested in the crabs that fell in the pool at night!! We were amazed when we walked into the casa/house. It was awesome. We had privacy and at night with each bedroom being on either side of the casa/house! During the day the whole casa/house was open to the ocean! Taking a nap in the hammocks was like heaven on earth! How relaxing! The beach is wonderful and the weather was great. We rode horses and watched the sunset, had a blast beach-combing and exploring. We fell in LOVE with Ernesto, he was AWESOME! You can't help but like him. He was the perfect host and I truly mean that. The employees were outstanding. My baby fell in love with the grounds-keeper. She would run to him with her arms out and he would pick her up and hold her while he worked. It was so cute!! Trust me, this is a place you want to visit :'')!!! |

| | Casas Gregorio was a very relaxing place to stay. We spent a lot of time reading, napping, walking on the beach and swimming. The bungalows are comfortable, the casas are outstanding.
Ernesto is a very gracious, helpful host. His crew is also very professional. Troncones is a good place to do not much: great beach (my 7 year old learned to boogie board, but it was too rough for snorkeling), very friendly Americans and Mexicans, good restaurants, iguanas, flowers, Mexican dancing, etc. Zihua and Ixtapa are about 45 minutes away. |

| | Wow--what a great place! We loved the openess of the Casa and the house was as close to the ocean as possible. Ernesto is such a sweetheart and always on hand to give information about the area or to hang out in the mornings and have some coffee and chat. There were so many options for dining out from family friendly to a romantic dinner for two. I do recommend a car though----we were uncertian but glad we decided. We had so much fun riding horses (about $20 hour), getting a massage in a beach hut ($10 for 1/2 hour) and buying jewelry from the locals! We had mucho privacy and enough cannot be said about falling asleep every night listening to the surf, then waking up, sitting up in bed and looking straight out at the ocean. We will definitly return!

| | My family of 4 just returned from a 2 week stay at Casas Gregorio. My wife, 2 teenage sons, and I can honestly say that our time there was probably the most relaxing vacation any of us has ever experienced. Owner Greg Mrachek and his brother Ernesto, are very professional and also personal in handling the property.
Also, the housekeeping staff of Renee and Santa take care of everything, which enabled us to enjoy the beautiful beach, surf, swim, and just generally relax to the utmost degree. What we loved the most is the fact that the casas are located right on the beach, and that the entire shoreside wall of living room opened up to the wonderful view and magnificent crashing of the breakers nonstop. I have never slept better. It is also a very private atmosphere.
We also very much enjoyed staying in Troncones. The people were very friendly and several of the restaurants serve great food and offer good atmosphere, but you are also not far from the big city life of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo,if you so desire.
I strongly recommend Casas Gregorio to anyone who dreams of a relaxing quiet vacation on a beautiful beach that seems like your own. |

By providing us with additional pictures, arranging different cooks to prepare us authenic meals, detailing recreational opportunities and answering a million other questions our decision to book with Casas Gregorio was easy. Thanks to Greg, the hard part was made easy, and now its time to enjoy the privacy of Casas Gregorio and beautiful Troncones.

It´s perfect for resting, the kids are delighted with the ocean and the pool. It is a GREAT place for everyone to relax from all the jobs left behind. We've seen how the place has grown, first the pool and then the bungalows, in which we were the first guests.
You have to visit the Casas Gregorio; it's near to paradise. |

| | Once we arrived in Troncones & had a chance to check out the town, we decided we were staying in the best spot available! We loved the location on the beach; the layout of the house was perfect for our family of five (5). We enjoyed the fact that we were close to the town of Troncones, but had a private spot without being treated like tourists. Loved the ocean breeze & evening lightening storms in August. Our friends were amazed we had found such a good spot for our two families to vacation together!

| | We went to Casa Gregorio in July, we were 2 families with a total of 6 kids and this was the perfect vacation. In the 2 weeks we were there we saw about 10 people on the beach, our kids were able to run around and have incredible fun without bothering any one. The pool was beautiful, the houses were amazing. We loved listening to the ocean every night. And we loved the patios in front of each house. Troncones was perfect, the people were very friendly. Ernesto was a gracious host, be sure to go to the hot springs. In short it was as close to perfect as we could hope to find. |

| | Casas Gregorio is uniquely beautiful. Quiet, secluded, yet it is a well appointed lodging with fully furnished kitchens, private pool, beach, the place is just perfect if you''re trying to relax, wind down from the pressures of modern life. We were there for only one week but have promised ourselves to return again and again.
The owners/managers are friendly, English and Spanish speaking, very considerate and concerned about every little detail.
We recommend it highly for those seeking a uniquely different vacation. |

| | Anyone who is considering an extremely awesome vacation in Mexico should strongly consider Casa Gregorio in Troncones and I will tell you why:
#1 - The owner of the property is extremely accomodating, professional and maintains the beach house (homes) in excellent condition.
#2 - The lodging is very affordable, all things considered.
#3 - The on-site manager Ernesto caters to all of one''s needs.
#4 - If you have kids, (I have 7 1/2 year old twins) the place is very kid friendly and the beach is a stones throw away. The house is actually right on the beach.
#5 - If you are looking for privacy, this is the place. It is absolute paradise and you have palapas and basically your own beach right out the back door.
#6 - Food - excellent, fresh seafood, quesadillas for the kids and good local family owned restaurants within walking distance of Greg''s house; however, a car does come in handy as opposed to taking cabs.
If anyone needs more info. on my 10 day vacation in Troncones, I would be happy to talk to them about our experience at this awesome location.
Regards,
Chet Barney |

| | I had been to Troncones 15 yrs ago. While there have certainly been some changes since my last visit, it remains a very cool, laid-back and truly "Mexican" spot...light years from the traffic of Zihua and the painted curbs and discos of Ixtapa. If you want some genuine peace and quiet in a small town (with a couple of VERY good restaurants) and lots of excellent surf in near proximity,...go to Casas Gregorio. Be sure to take Ernesto a couple of Bluegrass CD's, too.

| | What a wondeful place to visit. All the experiences of real Mexico. Casas Gregorio and its staff make you feel as though you never want to leave! I highly recommend the pool hall in Troncones-one of the best restrooms in Mexico. Azteca cannot possibly compare to the food in Troncones---it's incredible. I highly recommend Casas Gregorio and the village of Troncones!! |

| | We have stayed at Casas Gregorio twice and are already planning our next trip. The property is RIGHT on the beach. The houses are open to the beach and you literally feel part of the beach. The pool is spotless and refreshing. The host is gracious and the staff are so kind and helpful. Troncones itself is a piece of paradise. I did extensive research before we went and while we were there. For so many reasons, Casas Gregorio would be our only choice. |

| | People often ask me-
"Where do residents of Hawaii go for vacations?"
I can certainly tell you that THIS Hawaiian resident goes to Troncones Mexico, and always stays at CASAS GREGORIO!!
The property is FABULOUS...Direct oceanfront, spacious accommodations, complete kitchens, refreshing swimming pool, and much more.
There's a beautiful white-sand beach at the doorstep. The waves are great right out front for surfing, bodysurfing etc. Additionally there's excellent fishing, snorkeling and diving, all just footsteps away from your villa.
Comfortable & Affordable.
If you''re heading south for some OUTSTANDING R&R...CHECK IT OUT!
