Dia de la Marina – Celebrate Navy Day on June 1st!

Navy Day, or Dia de la Marina, is truly a spectacular festival that you don’t want to miss!
For Mexico, its seas are a great source of bounty and employment. Because of these reasons, the history of the Mexican National Navy runs in concert with the birth of Mexico as a nation. Navy Day marks the official birth of Mexico’s navy. On June 1, 1917, the country’s navy was nationalized. On this date, the merchant ship Tabasco sailed from the port of Veracruz under the command of Captain Rafael Izaguirre Castañares with a totally Mexican crew.
